The name Schwindt
"Schwindt" has its origin in Medieval German where "swynde", "swint" had the meaning of "boisterous"! Interestingly this corresponds with the nature of the typical Schwindts in our family! (The name development from "swynde" to "Schwind" can be seen in the region of Hanau btw.)
Furthermore "de Swinede" was mentioned in 1294. And a given name "Swindbert" was mentioned. Schwindt could also be an origin-name from the town "Schwinde" (between Hamburg and Lüneburg). (Information from: Namensforum onomastik.com)
